After going through the options we, as a group decided to make the opening to a thriller movie, this is because it has all the conventions of an action/adventure film but doesn't rely as much on fighting compared to action/adventure. We decided not to do a Horror genre as many of the other people in the class decided to do horror and we decide it may be too difficult to do. We decided not to do comedy as our preliminary task was a comedy and we didn't want to do the same genre. We decided not to do the romance genre as we (as a group) didn't have the knowledge of the genre in comparison to the thriller genre which we chose.
First media production ideas
My first idea for a media product was about a policeman/detective who spent all his time working and no time with his wife and child. The first sequence was to have the detective eating his breakfast when his wife comes rushing down the stair gripping onto the hand of the child and reaching out for the door handle. The detective would then ask 'where are you going?' Which is answered back with abuse from his wife saying how he never spends any time with her or the child, and that he must feel that his work is a lot more important. The mother and child then leave the house and they are seen getting into a car and speeding away. It then would cut to the detective in an interview room with a criminal who has just been arrested. The criminal refuses to answer any of the questions the detective asks him and the detective starts to get angry, shouting and swearing at the criminal. The last shot is seeing the detective about to punch the criminal. Then the titles come upAs a group, we decided not to do this idea as there is a bit of a time gap in between which may make no sense to the audience. We have also decided that to many swear word would have been needed in this film opening to show the anger and frustration of the detective. But we all preferred the second idea much more and it sounded better.
Treatment for 'Kill Confirmed'
First shot of the film opening focuses on the hit man (Joe Chapman) next to/in a bush hidden across the road of a house. Joe gets out a pair of binoculars and looks through the windows of the house using them (point of view shot through the binoculars). Through the binoculars Joe see's Ryan, the boss of an unknown business/his target (Medium point of view shot through the binoculars). This frame then freezes and the actors name Ryan Bell appears at the bottom of the screen. The shot resumes, then there is a close up shot of Joe as he puts the binoculars down on the floor. The next shot is a long shot of a BMW car pulling up out side the house, Me (Dan) is seen getting out of the car (medium shot). The medium shot then freezes and Dan Brown appears at the bottom of the screen. Dan is seen going through the door (long shot). There is then a point of view shot of Joe crossing the road which cuts to a long shot if him opening the back gate. There is then a tracking shot of Joe as he is walking down the ally in the middle of this shot it cuts to A medium shot of Dan saying to Ryan 'have you got it then'. The same tracking shot is used as Joe enters the house via the back door and towards the kitchen. As Joe is seen crouching behind a cupboard, Dan is seen leaving. Cuts to the point of view of Joe as he sneaks into the front room where the business had just been done and him shooting Ryan. Joe then gets out his phone, dials and number and says 'Kill Confirmed'. This is when the title come on the screen.
Shooting Schedule
We will be filming within the February half term (16th
to the 20th), this is to ensure that we have a full day to film.
This means that we can change our filming day depending on different
circumstances, for example; weather and illness etc. Ideally we will be hoping
to film on a sunny day so that as it will make it easier. Filming on the same
day will also ensure that there is small change in weather in our production.
We will be filming in the order of our storyboard as it will
not be easier or less time consuming to film in a different order.
On the day of filming we will be expecting our actors; Joe,
Ryan and Dan to be wearing suitable clothing for the production.
We shall use one of our own cameras or one of the media
departments’ camera.
Props:
·
Car, how I enter the scene
·
Airsoft gun, what Joe ‘kills’ Ryan with towards the
end of the production
·
Gym bag, this contains the ‘goods’ I receive from
Ryan.
·
Clothes
·
Money roll, What I use to pay Ryan for the ‘Goods’
·
Chains, so that Ryan looks like a stereotypical drug
lord
I decided to create an animatic storyboard instead of one that would have had to be drawn. I took all the screenshot from the final production, and I create a voice over to what is happening in the certain picture.
